TIWANAKU FROM PUNO - FULL DAY
Tour Description
The Tiwanaku Complex, located about 20 kilometers south of Lake Titicaca in Bolivian territory, is a magnificent archaeological site that was once the capital of the Tiwanaku culture. Within it, there are remains of notable buildings, among which stand out:
Kalasasaya:
An ancient building of great relevance in the complex.
Puma Punku:
An enigmatic temple or monument that is part of the complex. Its unique construction has sparked debates about the possible use of advanced technologies by ancient civilizations.
Gate of the Sun:
Located on the Kalasasaya platform, this large monolithic gateway is an impressive piece in terms of dimensions and weight, with artistically high-quality reliefs representing the God of Staffs.
Monolith Ponce:
A central element in the Tiwanaku Ceremonial Center.
The Pyramid of Akapana:
Also known as the Sacred Mountain of Tiahuanaco, it's a monumental seven-level pyramid measuring approximately 200 meters wide and 17 meters high. It is near the Subterranean Temple and Kalasasaya, precisely aligned with the cardinal points.
The Tiwanaku archaeological complex houses these structures and many others, all with deep cultural and spiritual significance in the history of this ancient civilization. Despite the adverse climatic conditions of the highland region, some of these monuments have endured, providing valuable insights into the past of this ancestral culture.
